Making Success Out of Failures
Finding the fault is but half the battle.
Anything can fail. Buildings. Bridges. Even sidewalks.
To know why, you really have to know your forensic engineering – often across many disciplines. And that’s hard enough.
Even harder can be knowing how to remedy the matter. This can take more than engineering expertise. It needs a feel for the business case. And a flair for fresh thinking.
Every matter shouldn’t come down to a choice between replace vs. repair. What about reinvent?
Will simply restoring the structure to its previous condition add value? Will failure reoccur if nothing else changes? Is there an opportunity to build for the future? Is it better to do nothing at all? How can we bring all parties around a solution that delivers added value and reduced risk?
It’s thinking like this that enables us to turn structural failures into business successes.
